Alastair was my first English teacher at secondary school, I was fortunate that he picked up my passion for writing and pushed me to submit work to competitions. He tutored me one to one in my final year at the academy to help prep me for university entrance - something I then put off for a long time, but have happily pursued since. I am grateful for the encouragement he and the department gave me. My best wishes to his family for their loss.
